m.) Barna is placed in the western part of the territory and dominates
Val Menaggio and Val Sanagra. It shows its original perhaps Spanish
structure with its winding streets and its buildings that prove, with
their rich portals and pictorial decorations, the importance and social
ranks of the owners. The scenographical square, the only one among
all the hamlets, houses on its centre the wonderful fountain given
by the noble Manzi family. The church, become parish church in 1635,
dedicated to S.Maria Maddalena, shows its inside with one nave and
three side chapels. There, you can find, together with various paintings
from the Lombard School, one precious wooden crucifix (XVIIth c.),
one organ (Carcano - 1851) and a wooden gilded altar (1886) |
