The territory of the Comunità Montana Alpi Lepontine offers an astonishing variety of historical and environmental sceneries. In fact on a rather small territory you can find the almost Mediterranean landscapes of Griante and Valsolda and, at the same time, the alpine atmosphere typical of Val Cavargna. Most of our villages, however, are placed in an area at the foot of the mountains, enjoy the salubrious climate of the Lake and are surrounded by the rich vegetation and fauna of the Lombard Pre-Alps. Among these villages stands out Plesio, whose territory extends from 300 m. a.s.l. up to Mount Bregagno (2107 m.). The village combines the characteristics of a mountain place and of a lake resort, has a wonderful position overlooking the centre of the Lake and a history of reat interest (the masso avello in Calveseglio and the buildings of Plesio's historical centre).
